Accessibility:

By Road:

• Located about 235 km east of Kampala
• Main route: Kampala → Jinja → Mbale (tarmac road)
• From Mbale, the road climbs to Kapchorwa on the mountain’s northwestern slopes
• Dirt roads branch off to various trailheads

Activities & Experiences:

1. Mountain Climbing
Mount Elgon offers a less strenuous alternative to other East African peaks. With a mild climate and lower elevation, it requires no technical climbing experience, making it ideal for both beginners and seasoned hikers.

2. Mountain Biking
Trails run from Sipi Trading Centre to Chema Hill in Kapchorwa (approx. 1.5 hours), offering scenic rides past waterfalls and rolling landscapes.

3. Bird Watching
